AI Tool Predicts Cancer Survival Chances with Single Face Photo
Researchers have developed an AI tool that can predict cancer patients' survival chances using just a single photograph of their face. The model was trained on over 40 million facial images and photos of more than 30,000 cancer patients, many of whom had died. The tool assigns risk scores, with higher scores indicating greater likelihood of death within 90 days. It can estimate age with a 5-year margin of error and reliably categorize patients into higher- or lower-risk groups. While promising, experts caution the tool isn't yet ready for clinical use and needs further testing against doctors' assessments.
